Nursery Bedding Color Schemes

Modern parents aren’t interested in “practical” or “sensible” designs for their nurseries anymore. They want their nurseries to stimulate the young minds of their young children and they want them to come away from their nursery bedding both well rested and educated. Nursery bedding is just another victim in the throngs of the baby fashion revolution. If you’re soon to be a new parent yourself you need to sit up and take notice of all of the zany ideas being flung around about nursery bedding.

Alright, you caught me; maybe nursery bedding isn’t really that interesting. Maybe the color scheme you choose for your nursery isn’t going to change the world in a miraculous and dynamic way but it’s still important to talk about it isn’t it? I mean, nursery bedding is the sleep-inducing, comfort level rising, and bond-forming baby bedding that is going to welcome your child into the world. You’ve got to think hard about what those first few months should be like for your precious little baby in his baby crib.

Nursery Bedding is Foundation for the Whole Nursery

You’ve probably stumbled on this article because you’re going to be a new parent yourself and you’re trying to come up with good ideas for your nursery. Well let me tell you, you’ve come to the right place. The way you design your nursery bedding is going to have a drastic effect on the way you design your nursery over all. Choosing the nursery bedding set is like choosing the foundation for a house; without the right color scheme, comfort level, and pattern you’re going to lose all coherence in your nursery design as a whole.

So, what kind of nursery bedding designs are we talking about here? You can take the safe route and go with Winnie the Pooh nursery bedding or Disney nursery bedding. Those styles of nursery bedding are classics and always a good bet. However, you can always start from scratch and create a completely unique and out of the ordinary concept for the baby to spend their first few years in!

Pastels are always a safe bet!

When you first enter any store devoted to nursery design you’re going to find a lot of one color sets: pastels.  Because it is for a small child, pastel colors are always a good way to go.  They give the entire nursery a very soft look and children always love them.  Blue for boys and pink for girls is the perennial classic.

Use Vibrant Colors with Caution

On the other hand, you can use bright and vibrant colors in your nursery. You probably should be careful about putting too many vibrant colors in the nursery bedding. Zany color choices like hot pink nursery bedding or neon green nursery bedding could cause your child to stress out instead of mellow down.

You don’t want your child to think he’s in some sort of crazy Beatle’s album cover art scene. Too much stimulation can be harmful to a child’s early mental health. If you find that your baby is crying more than he should be while in the nursery, you might consider toning down the colors a little bit in there.

Blend Patterns

The best nursery bedding is going to take color themes and patterns from a variety of sources. It should feel smooth and soft to the touch and it is going to be pleasant to look at. You want to have solid colors that work well together. Try to avoid high contrasting color schemes and stay as far away from plaids as you possibly can (haha just a personal preference).

Just remember folks, nursery bedding isn’t rocket science. Even if you choose a poor color scheme for your nursery you’re not going to damage the mental health of your child. After all, you’re going to be changing the bedding and wallpaper as soon as the child is old enough to want to choose his own decorations.
