Cellulite Exercises and Myths
68You’ve probably landed on this article because you’re looking for ways to cure your cellulite problem. Unfortunately I have some bad news for you if that is the case: science has yet to find a cure for cellulite. That’s right, even though millions of people all over the world are struggling to get rid of that ugly, dimpling, cottage cheese-like skin on the backs of their thighs there is no cure in sight.
Fear not though, there is still hope. Even though there is no way to completely prevent or eliminate cellulite there are many ways to treat it and reduce it, you just have to know who to believe. There is a lot of conflicting information out there on cellulite these days because everyone wants to know how to get rid of it and they are willing to try just about anything to do it. Trying to solve a problem out of desperation can be dangerous and that’s why this article aims to dispel some of the most common myths about cellulite removal that are out there and hopefully give you some better ideas on how to treat your cellulite problem.
Liposuction Gets Rid of Cellulite: ABSOLUTELY FALSE!
Plastic surgery seems to be able to solve just about any superficial cosmetic body problems these days right? Well, let me tell you now that cellulite is not one of those cosmetic problems that can be solved by a simple nip and tuck. Liposuction, which is the process of surgically removing excess fat deposits deep below the skin, is not going to be able to solve your cellulite problem at all. In fact, liposuction will do just the opposite and make your cellulite appear far worse.
People seem to think that liposuction will remove cellulite because they connect cellulite with the fatty deposits below the skin and don’t realize that there are many different layers of fatty deposits. Cellulite is caused by the superficial fat cells that sit below the top layer of skin but liposuction takes aim at fat deposits that are far deeper. After receiving liposuction the superficial fat on the top of the skin will look flabbier and looser because that deeper layer of foundation fat isn’t there to hold it up tight.
Other solutions with variable results include laser therapy, mesotherapy, or various cellulite lotions.
Exercise Can Totally Eliminate Cellulite: WRONG!
We’d all like to believe that exercise will solve all of our body’s problems. We’d like to believe that because we work so hard over in the gym and really push ourselves to maintain a physique to be proud of that we won’t have to worry about cellulite popping up on our skin. Sadly, that’s just not the case. Even if you were to go to the gym every single day of your life for hours at a time pushing yourself to the limit every time using exercises to reduce cellulite, you aren’t going to get rid of that nasty looking dimpled skin.
The problem is that cellulite isn’t necessarily caused by stationary behavior; it is caused by a mix of genetic and hormonal factors that no amount of cellulite exercise is going to fix. Now, that doesn’t mean that you can use cellulite as an excuse to never hit the gym again. Routine exercise is part of a healthy lifestyle and will help to prevent and manage your cellulite even if it doesn’t eliminate it entirely. There are particular exercises for cellulite that you can use to better reduce the development of those fat deposits but there aren’t really any exercises to get rid of cellulite completely. Basically, the more you can reduce the amount of fat in your body the less chance you will have of developing cellulite.
Cellulite Only Develops in Women: Sorry Guys, COMPLETELY UNTRUE!
Men would like to believe that they are immune to the awful wrinkly appearance of cellulite but unfortunately they are out of luck. At last six thousand men in the United States are found seeking treatment for cellulite each year and that number is steadily on the rise. Cellulite may be mostly a women’s issue but it also becomes a man’s nightmare.
This myth all started because women have a higher risk of developing cellulite then men. They have this higher risk because of the way that their body chooses to store fat in the cells. Instead of storing fat deposits parallel to their skin as men do, women’s bodies will generally set it up in the opposite way. Because of this perpendicular fat organization, women’s skin tends to get pulled down by their fat deposits and stretched out. This is what causes that odd looking uneven appearance.
Luckily, even though cellulite is an ugly and unfortunate cosmetic problem, cellulite alone is not harmful to our health. Problems with cellulite could arise in a healthy individual just as they could in an unhealthy one. However, a healthy lifestyle does go far in preventing and managing the development of cellulite and you would do well to exercise regularly and eat right. Even though a personal trainer can develop cellulite on their thighs as much as you can, doesn’t mean you should ignore healthy living completely. Even though cellulite exercises are not a final solution to eliminating cellulite, you should do them because they can help you manage the appearance of cellulite and make you healthier in general.
